Composting Seminar

  • Hart Community Center 407 South State Street Hart, MI 49420 (map)

Have you ever wondered how to make “Black Gold?”  Now is your chance to learn!  This seminar will describe how to start turning your organic kitchen and yard waste into a rich garden compost.

Composting is the natural process of decomposing organic substances into a nutrient-rich material.  This material, which some gardeners call “Black Gold,” can be added to the soil in your garden to improve plant growth.  Benefits of composting include increasing microorganisms in the soil, improving water retention, and increasing air pockets to allow for root growth.

Educational Coordinator Rebecca Miller will give the “dirty” details on the why and how of composting, including information on how to make your own back yard composter.

Call (231) 861-5600 to register.
